Abstract
► The asphaltites are exposed in three different locations in NW Gümüşhacıköy, Turkey. ► Asphaltites in Gümüşhacıköy are formed within Cretaceous and Eocene units. ► Oil migrated into these units later than the Eocene. ► Oil in these units experienced biodegradation and formed the asphaltite deposits. ► These three asphaltite occurrences are generated from the same source rock.
