Abstract
⺠A work index was developed called the Hybrid Work Index for biomass materials. ⺠The HWI was shown to be sensitive to heat treatment and energy input. ⺠The comminution order was shown to be sensitive to degree of treatment. ⺠The HWI equation was shown to produce a relative grinding energy. ⺠Further study could lead to an industrial standard for treated biomass materials.
