Abstract
► Speed of sound measurements in FAME and FAAE are reported. ► Data are new. ► A group contribution was proposed to predict speed of sound and compressibility of pure fatty acid methyl and ethyl esters. ► The accuracy of the prediction method in very good (in the range of the experimental uncertainty). ► The group contribution can be used to determine the acoustic properties of all FAME and FAAE present in biodiesels.
