Abstract
⺠An integrated LEM and CA method is developed for studying the effect of fuel stratification on HCCI combustion. ⺠The effect of fuel stratification on ignition is fuel dependent. ⺠Fuel stratification leads to increases in NOx and CO emissions. ⺠Turbulence retards combustion phasing. ⺠Non-uniform species properties and chemical reaction induce thermal gradients in HCCI combustion.
