Numerical and experimental investigations on the gas temperature deviation in a large scale, advanced low NOx, tangentially fired pulverized coal boiler

► The gas temperature deviation in a tangentially fired coal boiler comes from the residual swirling flow. ► The gas temperature distribution is biased to the left, lower region of the final super-heater. ► Individual change in yaw angle of separate over-fire air reduces this gas temperature deviation. ► We propose changes in yaw and tilt angles of over-fire air to reduce this deviation.
