Abstract
- We examined reforming of nascent volatiles from biomass pyrolysis in a bed of natural goethite ore.
- The reforming reduced the ore (hematite) to magnetite/wustite with a deposition of coke.
- The coke loaded magnetite/wustite was reduced to wustite/iron by reheating to 800 °C under N2 flow.
- The reforming-reheating cycles increased the fraction of iron in the ore bed.
- The reforming with the reduced ore bed produced syngas with tar concentration below 10Â mg Nm-3-dry.
