- Hydrocracking of VR was conducted with activated carbons in a supercritical m-xylene.
- The conversion and oil product quality depended strongly on the catalyst properties.
- The mesopore and functional groups of the ACs played key roles on the reaction.
- The addition of a metal additive to the AC catalyst could enhance the conversion.
