Abstract
► We evaluate laminar burning velocity and flame thickness correlations for ethanol. ► Reliable ethanol laminar burning velocity data at engine conditions are scarce. ► We calculate laminar ethanol flames at engine conditions using chemical kinetics. ► A new laminar burning velocity correlation form closely fits the calculation results. ► An existing flame thickness correlation is adapted to be valid for ethanol flames.
