Abstract
⺠The spray structure and droplet sizes were measured for low-pressure PFI sprays. ⺠Gasoline, ethanol, and blends containing 10%, 20% and 50% ethanol were studied. ⺠Results indicate that the fuels exhibit similar spray progression and droplet sizes. ⺠The effect of fuel viscosity is not prominent due to the complex mode of atomization. ⺠The results would be useful while converting existing PFI systems to use ethanol.
