Abstract
⺠Low heating rate pyrolysis followed by a high heating rate one as two-step pyrolysis. ⺠Two-step pyrolysis of wood increases char yield. ⺠Two-step pyrolysis of cellulose increases very slightly char yield. ⺠Two-step pyrolysis of hemicelluloses and lignin does not increase char yield. ⺠Interactions among the constituents promote char formation during two-step pyrolysis.
