Abstract
⺠Optical measurements in a commercial high performance GDI engine. ⺠Homogeneous and stratified charge mixture, using gasoline and pure ethanol. ⺠The stratified flame frontspreads faster but produces more soot and HC. ⺠Ethanol stratified combustion showed faster burning rates than gasoline. ⺠Ethanol stratified strategyimproved engine stability and reduced PM and UHC.
