Abstract

âº Optical measurements in a commercial high performance GDI engine. âº Homogeneous and stratified charge mixture, using gasoline and pure ethanol. âº The stratified flame frontspreads faster but produces more soot and HC. âº Ethanol stratified combustion showed faster burning rates than gasoline. âº Ethanol stratified strategyimproved engine stability and reduced PM and UHC.
