Abstract
► We experimentally investigate fuel compositional effects on gas turbine ignition. ► Test fuels included: a gas to liquid synthetic, Jet A-1 and diesel. ► Combustor hardware: can-annular (airblast) and annular (next gen. atomiser) sections. ► Fuel composition does not affect the ignition limit if light molecules are available. ► Using GC × GC analysis, the lean ignition limit was correlated to fuel vapour pressure.
