Abstract
► Biomass-derived carbonization products and components as additives to a bituminous coal for metallurgical coke production. ► Biomass carbonization products and woody components reduce the Gieseler fluidity of the coal to different degrees. ► The overall effect of the biomass products on the coal fluidity greatly resembles that of the biomass precursor. ► The general reduction trend for each biomass-derived product can be fitted to a downward-sloping exponential. ► The type of the oxygen functionalities has a dominant effect in the development of coal fluidity.
