Abstract
The study was conducted to eliminate nitrogen compounds from diesel fraction before hydrotreating (HDT) by using extractive and adsorptive techniques. The experiments were conducted in two steps; at first, prepare nitrogen free Kuwaiti straight run gas oil (SRGO) while in the second step is to test HDT catalytic activities using synthetic diesel feed to achieve ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD). The HDS conversion of diesel indicated that adsorbed N species caused a decrease in hydrogenolysis activities and inhibited a part of the catalytic sites.169
