Abstract
The standard enthalpies of formation of Bi25FeO39 (s) and Bi2Fe4O9 (s), at 298.15â¯K were determined by acid solution calorimetry and are found to be (â7.55â¯Â±â¯0.32)â¯Ãâ¯103â¯kJâ¯molâ1 and (â2.17â¯Â±â¯0.07)â¯Ãâ¯103â¯kJâ¯molâ1, respectively. Heat capacities of Bi25FeO39 (s) and Bi2Fe4O9 (s) were measured using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The measured heat capacities as a function of temperature are expressed as: Cp (Jâ¯Kâ1â¯molâ1)â¯Â±â¯49.9â¯=â¯1529.9â¯+â¯200.6â¯Ãâ¯10â3â¯Tâ¯ââ¯21.6â¯Ãâ¯106â¯Tâ2 (T/K: 308-818), Cp (Jâ¯Kâ1â¯molâ1)â¯Â±â¯11.0â¯=â¯395.5â¯ââ¯23.0â¯Ãâ¯10â3â¯Tâ¯ââ¯7.6â¯Ãâ¯106â¯Tâ2 (T/K: 313-773). Deviation of measured Cp values from the estimates by the Neumann-Kopp rule (NKR) has also been discussed.
