Abstract
We report the synthesis of rutile-type TiO2 microspheres by rapid hydrothermal treatment of peroxo titanic acid. Inspired by the unique shape with interconnected networks, the TiO2 microspheres were used as anode materials for lithium batteries, and the cells exhibited initial discharge capacities up to 180â¯mAâ¯hâ¯gâ1 at 0.2 C rate. The TiO2 microspheres show superior rate capacity with high power density and cycling stability owing to their unique hierarchical structural features composed small attached nanorods.284
