Abstract
⺠A Si-TiFeSi2 composite was synthesized by arc melting followed by rapid quenching. ⺠The composite consisted of Si nanocrystallites uniformly embedded in a TiFeSi2 matrix. ⺠Si was transformed into amorphous Li-Si alloy, but TiFeSi2 remained inactive. ⺠The anode showed a reversible capacity of 1200 mAh gâ1 over 50 cycles. ⺠Only nano-cracks at Si-rich sites was observed and the hard matrix endured the stress.
