Abstract
► Asymmetric Marcus-Hush model is applied to surface-bound redox systems. ► Asymmetric model offers additional physical insight into electron transfer processes. ► The model accounts for asymmetric, curved Tafel plots reported in literature. ► Peak current and potential behaviours in CV and SWV are satisfactorily described. ► For finite kinetic redox systems the asymmetric model is recommended.
