Abstract
► The simulation and optimization of supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of St. John's Wort was investigated. ► A model that accounts for both particle and fluid phase was applied. ► The model was solved numerically and was successfully validated with experimental data. ► The equilibrium constant of extract between solid and solvent phase was determined using genetic algorithm. ► The model was found to predict well the experimental data and optimum T and P are 313 K and 20 MPa.
