Abstract
► The functioning of clay binders in pelletised chromite pre-reduction was studied. ► Binder performance in oxidising and reducing environments were found to be vital. ► Higher clay contents resulted in lower chromite pre-reduction levels. ► Clay selection influenced chromite pre-reduction achieved.
