Abstract
⺠Heavy crude oil-water flows are compared with a model oil with the same viscosity. ⺠Flow patterns are identified through local sampling and monitored online pressure drop. ⺠A similarity is characterized as water segregation from the dispersion with velocity increases. ⺠Differences are owed to the natural surfactants which maintain the stability of water drops in oil.
