Abstract
The simulated axial solids concentration profile using EMMS drag correlations for cases 1, 4 and 5, as well as their comparison with the corresponding experiment are shown. The time-average solids concentration along the riser was obtained when the full loop simulations reach stability. It can be seen that the simulation work can give appropriate trend for solids concentration profiles compared with the experimental data. One of the reasons for the difference between the simulation and experiment may be the two dimensional modeling, which cannot describe the effects of the actual three dimensional geometry on the hydrodynamic character, thus the confirmation from further research on three dimensional modeling would be awaited and implemented.
