Abstract
Similitude criteria for bubbling fluidized beds are investigated by DEM-CFD simulations. Systems scaled by factors down to 0.5 and up to 10 are studied by processing the time-series of the pressure drop signal and analyzing, in statistical terms, the distance between the reconstructed attractors. Similitude was preserved only using the full set. Finally, relations between scale-up and DEM-CFD computational demands are addressed.
