Abstract
A new type of flake-processing mill is developed utilizing a configuration of high-speed orbiting ball media that rapidly converts 3D powders into quasi-2D flake powders in a continuous and efficient manner. The device is capable of rapidly producing flakes as thin as 10 μm from originally 150-μm iron particles. However, while larger powders are easily processed well, the quality of milling decreases substantially for smaller powders because of turbulence occurring inside the mill.
