Abstract
►First-contact energy loss and adhesion hysteresis play a crucial role in cases with lower incident velocities. ►An energy dissipation due to the damping effect is predominant at higher incident velocities; ►The critical velocity as a key parameter of dynamic impact is mainly dependent on the first-contact energy loss; ►The adhesion effect is more significant for smaller particles resulting in more negative damping coefficients.
