Abstract
► A finned-tube heat exchanger is numerically studied. ► Effects of tube shape on flow, heat transfer and entropy production are studied. ► Reducing the tube ellipticity leads to entropy production decrease. ► Reducing the tube ellipticity leads to thermalhydraulic performances increase. ► An equipartition distribution of irreversibilities is noted when ellipticity decreases.
