Abstract
⺠We consider a highly porous layer with an exothermic reaction on the lower boundary. ⺠It is found that increasing the porosity is linearly stabilising. ⺠Increasing the rate that heat is conducted away from the reaction is destabilising. ⺠The effect of changing the other parameters of the reaction was also examined.
