Abstract
⺠Heat transfer in plugs in microcapillaries is enhanced by recirculating vortices. ⺠Three stages of the heat transfer process in plugs are identified. ⺠Higher Pe and shorter plug length result in higher Nu and lower fluid temperature. ⺠Pressure drop needs to be considered to optimize microchannel heat exchangers.
