Abstract
⺠We conducted a CFD and PIV investigation into the airflow in a vertical ventilation duct. ⺠The predicted and actual flow field results show good agreement. ⺠The fate of particles is influenced by particle size, particle density and the complexity of the flow. ⺠The temperature gradient greatly influenced airflow patterns and particle movement. ⺠Small particles followed the airflow while large particles were deposited at the inlet bend.
