Abstract
⺠Liquid jets filling a container can exhibit many interfacial flow shapes. ⺠Three common meniscus shapes are seen: mounding, ideal filling, and entraining. ⺠We use FEM simulations to identify the dimensionless parameters for ideal filling. ⺠Scaling analysis shows that the key physics occur where the jet impacts the pool. ⺠Ideal filling is found to occur at a critical Reynolds number.
