Abstract
► The axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric instability of an electrically charged viscoelastic liquid jet is studied. ► An analytical dispersion relation is derived and the temporal growth rate is solved numerically. ► The effects of electric field and conductivity on jet instability are investigated. ► The mechanism of elasticity is discussed in linear scope.
