Abstract
Secondary flows are always present when a turbulent Newtonian fluid flows through a square duct. We show that they are suppressed in surfactant solutions at maximum drag reduction. This result confirms the one-dimensional behaviour of such flows, which is caused by the alignment of the micelles.
