Abstract
TiH2 particles have been treated by oxidation and coating treatment, formed a SiO2/TiOx composite layer on the surface TiH2 particles, which could effectively delays the gas evolution of TiH2 particles. The morphology of oxidized TiH2 particles is similar to as-received TiH2 particles, when further coated TiOx/TiH2 particles with SiO2, the surface becomes smoother. At 650 °C, the low-level decomposition platform time of gas release is retarded over 180s. When progressive coating with SiO2, the low level decomposition platform time is prolonged, however, the total amount of gas release is decreased. A balance between the delay in gas evolution and the total gas release is best achieved by oxidation with 400 °C/6h + 500 °C/1 h and coating with 50 mL Na2SiO3 (0.5 mol/L).
