Abstract

- A semi-rigorous and generalized model is developed for the energy consumed by a lift motor in each travel cycle.
- The model was validated comparing its output with the readings taken from an energy meter for a real-life lift.
- Using the model an energy conserving route map can be evolved for the lift system in any building.
- The application is illustrated using three lifts located in the 20 storied main building of BRAC University as example.
