Abstract

•The natural data in the Ag–Au–Hg ternary system have been summarized.•Standard thermodynamic functions of Aux1Agx2Hgx3 solid solution have been calculated.•The obtained data can be used for developing models processes with Au, Ag and Hg.

We have summarized data on natural Ag–Au amalgams. Standard thermodynamic functions of ternary Ag–Au–Hg solid solution in the system were estimated. Several thermodynamic models of solid solutions were constructed on the basis of data on boundary binary systems. The convergence of results for different models suggests the validity of prediction. The obtained data can be used in different software packages and thermodynamic databases for developing physicochemical models in technological processes with participation of gold, silver and mercury. It will be used for modeling of ore deposit formation taking account of subregular solid solutions in a wide T, P-parameters interval.
