Abstract

Over the years, the resurgence of placing an effective amendment for the contamination agricultural biomass remains a highly contested agenda from a global point. A growing research interest has been directed towards reutilization and upgrading of the biomass residue. Confirming the assertion, this paper presents a state of art review of the current status of durian residue, its fundamental characteristics, and an estimation of the biomass availability. Moreover, the key advance of its novel implications in the adsorption science, building insulating, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing and biotechnological development were laconically elucidated. Finally, the major challenges and its future expectations were outlined.

► Renewable utilization as novel adsorbents. ► Building insulating materials. ► Agro-pectin derivatives. ► Pharmaceutical and medical importance. ► Food manufacturing and biotechnological development.
