An efficient synthesis of thiiranes from oxiranes using fluoroboric acid adsorbed on silica gel (HBF4-SiO2) as a catalyst under mild conditions in the absence of solvent

A mild, simple and efficient method for the synthesis of thiiranes from epoxides using catalytic amount of HBF4-SiO2 under solvent-free conditions has been developed. Experimental simplicity, simple work-up procedure and solvent-free reaction condition are important features of the present protocol.
