Abstract
⺠We provide a presentation of how diversity has been understood in education. ⺠We give a brief historical account of how school failure has been accounted for. ⺠We point to the dominance of accounts explaining failure in individualistic terms. ⺠We give a brief introduction to the articles included in this special issue.
