Abstract
Copper(II) acetylacetonate (Cu(acac)2) immobilized in ionic liquids (ILs) catalyzes the insertion of α-diazoacetate into NH bonds of amines to afford glycine esters in good yields under ambient conditions. The use of ionic liquid allows easy separation of the product and recycling of copper catalyst.
