Abstract
The numerical approaches have been used in many studies to predict the flow pattern inside the bubble column reactors because of the difficulties that are still found in designing and scaling-up the bubble columns. This review makes an effort to show suitable interfacial forces i.e., drag force, lift force, turbulent dispersion models and virtual mass and turbulence models such as standard k–ɛ model, Reynolds Stress Model, Large Eddy Simulation to predict flow pattern inside the bubble column using Eulerian–Eulerian. The effect of various interfacial forces and turbulence models on gas–liquid velocity and gas hold-up in bubble column is critically reviewed.
