Abstract
► The pyrolysis and/or gasification of biomass and waste resources produce gases that contain tar, which is condensed at a low temperature. ► An externally oscillated gliding arc plasma reformer (EOPR) was designed and manufactured for the destruction of the tar. ► A simulation test was conducted using benzene as a representative tar. ► The test results showed that the EOPR can efficiently destruct the tar using less energy than that used in the conventional plasma reformer.
