Abstract
Carbon disulphide is extremely toxic and harmful by inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption. It has disastrous effects upon the nervous system and brain, and cause headache, nauseam, dizziness, restlessness, euphoria, unconsciousness, fatigue, and insomnia, loss of appetite and sensory losses. The viscous rayon industry plays a dominant role in the pollution of the environment by means emission of carbon disulphide. This paper deals with the experimental aspects of the abatement of carbon disulphide pollution by absorption in spray column and ejector columns using alkaline solutions containing oxidation catalyst. The paper also compares the performance of the two types of equipment.
