Abstract
In this paper, effect of magnetic field on Bingham fluid in a lid-driven cavity has been analyzed by finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). This study has been performed for the certain pertinent parameters of Reynolds number (Re = 400, 1000, and 5000), Stuart number (N = 0, 1, and 10) and Bingham number (Bn = 1 and 10) as the magnetic field is applied vertically. Results show that the increment of Bingham number augments the unyielded section in the cavity. Furthermore, the increase in Stuart number enhances the unyielded zone while the shapes of the streamlines alter entirely. The rise of Reynolds number provokes the influence of the magnetic field on the extension of the unyielded part to grow.
