Abstract
► Polyurethane (PU) coatings were synthesized from acetoacteylated polyester (EAA-PE), 4,4′-methylene diisocyanate (MDI) and benzaldehyde (BNZ) for high performance applications. ► The thermo-mechanical properties of the coatings free films were studied by TGA, DMTA, UTM and SEM instrument techniques. ► These results indicate that the higher tensile strength and thermal stability for the PU coatings prepared from benzaldehyde modified EAA-PEs and the values increase with increasing the benzaldehyde concentration. ► The mechanical properties and flexibility of the BNZ modified PU is higher than the unmodified ones.
