Abstract
Coatings films dry through evaporation of solvents, which may be diffusion controlled depending on the concentration of solvents in the system. From this work, it is clear that CABs have an influence on the drying behavior of automotive refinish basecoats. It also appears that the molecular weight of the CAB has a significant impact on the rate of solvent evaporation from these systems.
