Abstract
This article is a survey on some recent results on longtime behaviour of solutions to nonlinear singular diffusion equations with main emphasis on fast diffusion porous media equations and the sand-pile model of self-organized criticality. Deterministic as well stochastic equations are presented. One of the key problem considered here is the extinction in finite time of solutions.
