Abstract
⺠In situ visual and brake reactions due to collision warnings presented to drivers in the real world are presented. ⺠The concepts of a threat-period (TP) and a post-threat-recovery period (PTRP) are discovered. ⺠Drivers show different glance behavior in TP and PTRP depending on the predictability of the event and driver distraction. ⺠Drivers brake in order to prevent a forward collision. ⺠Visual collision warnings should not be presented down in the instrument cluster as this causes misallocation of attention.
