Abstract
⺠In this study, we assessed the safety effects of the French Automated Speed Enforcement Program (ASEP). ⺠The introduction of speed cameras was associated with significant decreases in fatal and non-fatal traffic injuries. ⺠The effect on traffic fatalities was stable for the whole intervention period. ⺠The effect on non-fatal traffic injuries decays through time. ⺠The ASEP helped saving of 15,193 traffic fatalities and about 62,259 non-fatal traffic injuries on a 7-year period.
