Abstract
⺠We estimated the safety effects of converting signalized intersections to roundabouts. ⺠Roundabouts have fewer conflict points than similar signalized intersections. ⺠Converting signalized intersections to roundabouts tends to reduce crash frequency. ⺠Converting signalized intersections to roundabouts tends to reduce crash severity. ⺠Results may vary by traffic volume, area type, and number of approaches and lanes.
