Abstract
⺠We evaluate the effectiveness of 13 safety countermeasures in New York City. ⺠All pedestrian phase and increasing pedestrian crossing time reduce pedestrian crashes. ⺠Signal installation reduces total and multiple-vehicle crashes. ⺠Road diets have significant safety benefits. ⺠Speed humps and speed limit reduction are not effective in reducing crashes.
